I had this problem with my iPod Touch (3rd generation) which started for me last week. Did not appear to start after I had re-confirgured the Airport base station or anything. Just seemed to have the problem out of nowhere (maybe an iPod software update?). I tired multiple things to try and get the iPod Touch to reconnect to the network - such as changing the password on my airport network (and restarting the network), rebooting the iPod Touch, putting no password on my airport network, etc. Nothing worked (but it would connect to other wireless networks: those with passwords and those without). I finally found this posting, and decided to try the suggestion of turning of the airport for 15 minutes; and then plugging it back in. This worked, and now I am able to connect from the iPod Touch to the Apple Airport network again.

I set my airport extreme to be b/g compatible too (actually it was always set to "Automatic") and that didn't fix the problem. I tried setting my 2.4 GHz channel to channel 9, as suggested above and that did the trick.

Are you able to connect to a wi-fi spot in general? Have you tried it somewhere else and it worked?

Thanks all, this site really help me out on how to get my touch to work with my airport extreme . I've had it about 7 months now and finally was able to figure it out. You think apple would have had this on there support page but I couldn't find it.

I had a much more basic problem--I wasn't able to connect my iPod Touch to my Airport Extreme, and the iPod didn't even recognize the network (i.e. no SSID displayed). I checked everything, powered down, powered up, and then noticed that the AirPort was set to 802.11n-only mode. I changed it to 802.11n (b/g compatible) setting, and everything worked fine. I know, elementary, but it hadn't dawned on me that this could have been the issue.
