I finally got my iPhone 4 yesterday and it’s an awesome phone so far. So much faster than my old 3G and with many perks. Multi-tasking is good, although since I’m not used to it yet, I’m not exactly benefitting from it.
The phone’s screen is awesome and definitely the highlight feature. It’s so crisp and clear that it’s a spoiling experience. I look at the iPad’s screen or my Mac’s screens now and they’re all blurry in comparison. I can’t wait to see this kind of resolution on the iPad. Higher resolution on the Mac (something on the order of 200 ppi) would be awesome too.
Of course, I still prefer playing games on the iPad and its roominess is still much better for a lot of things too.
It seems that the iPhone 4′s availability is improving in Canada, but not to the point of wide availability everywhere yet. It’s still very hard to get at the cellular dealers’ stores. I had to go to the Apple Store in Ottawa twice to get the two we wanted. Last week’s attempt failed; by the time we reached the store at 10am, they had ran out already. But yesterday, I was at the door at 9:30am (opening time) in Rideau Center and there was already a line up of about 20 people.
The Apple dude took my name at the door and my needs and gave me an appointment to come back at 11:30am to do it.
Came back on time and my phones were waiting and the upgrade process went very smoothly. I left half an hour later with my shiny new phone in my pocket and my wife’s in a bag.
Another highlight: Shopping at the Apple store is an awesome experience. It’s unparalleled in any other electronics store.
I wasn’t surprised this past Monday when Apple announced that they had sold 14.1 Million iPhones during the summer. I believe if they could make them faster, they would have sold even more.
Needless to say that I highly recommend the iPhone 4 and really, really recommend a visit to an Apple store if you haven’t already.
